AutoForm – Digital Clamping

Software Development Intern

During my six-month internship at AutoForm in Zurich, I helped establish the first technical foundation of Digital Clamping, a desktop engineering application for visualizing automotive assembly geometry and supporting virtual clamping workflows.

Starting from an empty Electron application baseline, I worked across Angular and TypeScript frontend development, Electron desktop orchestration, Python backend integration, Three.js-based 3D visualization, C++ interfaces, automated testing, structured logging, technical documentation, and AI-assisted software development.

Application Architecture

Helped build the initial Electron-based application foundation and connect the Angular frontend, desktop shell, and local Python backend.

3D Geometry Viewer

Developed Three.js viewer functionality including geometry loading, camera controls, view presets, fit/reset behaviour, rendering modes, lighting, shadows, and scene helpers.

Backend and Reliability

Worked on FastAPI integration, backend startup, API and WebSocket communication, configuration, port handling, session management, logging, automated tests, and caching reliability.

AI-Assisted Engineering

Evaluated structured agent workflows, Figma MCP design-to-code, unfamiliar C++ implementation, and measured manual versus AI-assisted development.

I am a Computer Science graduate from the University of York with a focus on scalable web and application development. My work combines software engineering, web design, and product thinking to create digital solutions that are both functional and user-friendly.
